It seems as though the pain we felt has been subdued. If we don't combat these people then we will suffer and our way of life will be gone. Those who attacked us bank on that and are continuing to plan further attacks. Does it appear to you that the majority of Americans want to stick their heads in the sand and hope it won't happen again as is reflected in the recent elections?

Apologies..I wasn't clear and do understand the 'misgivings' by our President. I just feel as though many want to just end everything rather than find Bin Ladin etc. The reasons for Iraq were wrong even though Hussein is gone.....just wondering if people are still as pissed as I am about the attacks and whether or not they still want to go after the radicals who threaten us.

The short and to the point answer:
If we have indeed forgotten and wish to hide our heads in the sand, we are destined to be reminded again.
Sad, isn't it?

I would rather see my hard earned money pouring into Afghanistan/Pakistan to find Usama than in Iraq. I mean Usama is the mastermind of 9/11! So where does Iraq come into play on 9/11? Nowhere! This goes to proof positive that George Bush had his own agenda for lying to the American Gov't, and the American people about WMD'S. Usama is not in Iraq, nor has anyone proven that Iraq has ever had any confirmed business with AL-Qaeda. The mountains of Afghanistan are his home. He is very skilled at living and hiding in that terrain. Obviously so because we can't find him. People are certainly helping him. Back to 9/11. I really feel that the American public will never forget that fateful day, but the way that the investigations and the rebuilding of the towers, and the memorials has overshadowed the fact that all of those innocent people lost their lives. A memorial should have been complete by now, and the area should already be redeveloped, up, and running. It just goes to show what is priority in this country, and if we can't agree to memorialize these individuals, and get the process rolling for reconstruction, then they have let the terrorists win again because they are happy to hear that we are squabbling about things so trivial.

I think alot of people have forgotten the pain of 9/11. They have the momory, but forget how hurt and pissed we all were. I have not. I remember very clearly the tears, the anger, hanging a flag at work in our dept. and being proud to be American!! I supported our president in the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan to rid this world of terrorism and still do. One major one down, one more to go. Our troups need our support and not any criticism of why we are there. We don't need our troups coming home to another vietnam rebellion country. The recent elections will affect this, in that the parties are divided. If we pull out of Iraq with a job half done, then our reputation is discreditied. We are UNITED STATES, not divided states and should see the job done! We should support our president, be he democrat or republican, especially when it comes to home land security. The terrorist will attack again, if we buckle now!! We are looking for Bin Laden. Just like we looked for Sadam. We found Sadam. Terrorism is in more than one country, it just so happens we found the source in Iraq first. We have troups in Afghanistan looking for Bin Laden. My nephew is one of them.

Why would you find it strange that people have forgotten about 9/11 when the President of the United States has forgotten. I haven't forgotten. I remember that on 9/11 a group of terrorists attacked our country and killed some of our citizens. I also remember that our President vowed to capture their leader, dead or alive. And then an odd thing happened. Our President attacked a sovereign nation that had nothing to do with the attack of 9/11.
It really saddens me when I hear of people that believe that the war in Iraq had something to do with 9/11. Of course I don't completely blame you as our President and Vice President led you to believe that. However, I do hold you responsible for not investigating the truth.
I am a so called liberal and every liberal I have ever met wants to fight the real war on terror. We all want to capture OBL and bring him to justice. We want to fight terror cells around the globe. The war in Iraq has our ability to do so. The people that think the war in Iraq are the ones with their heads in the sand. The recent elections have shown that the majority of the people know the war in Iraq is wrong and we need to get back to fighting the real war on terror.

Instead of thinking about the pain that it caused all of the people involved try focusing on who it is that we need to be combating. I agree that the people of the united states are subdued because they aren't demanding answers and justice from our own government specifically about 9/11 and the war that ensued. History will repeat itself and if we don't change what we expect of our government then this will inevitably turn into a vicious circle that we can never regain control of(that is if it hasn't already).

Unfortunately I think you're right. I think people have forgotten that horrible day. I haven't...every time I see a plane I think of it. I believe the only way people will remember how bad it was is if it happens again. How awful is that? And yes the election results probably did reflect this apathy in some way. I really believe that them winning now will prevent them from getting the White House in 2008. They are going to implode. If we get hit again in the next two years, who will they blame?

Yes, I am just as p.o.'d as you and I still want to find and exterminate the insects involved in these attacks.
The phrase "We will never forget." still rings true for many Americans.

No no one has forgotten, but you see, the soldiers really haven't forgotten because they are over there every day putting life on the line, and we have lost more of them that had died in 9 11, now.

I haven't forgotten. But I also haven't forgotten that Bin Laden was responsible for all this and we haven't caught him because we're too busy invading Iraq. If Bush seemed more into the idea of finding and capturing Bin Laden, I'd be behind that. But I don't think bombing the heck out of Iraq and pissing off other countries/our allies is gonna help us stop Bin Laden from hitting us again.
