My brother in law has gone through about 4 shift towers on his truck. They break, the shifter gets all wobbly, he takes it to the shop. They fix it, and a week or so later, it happens again. The shop guys say there is no good fix, and no after-market solution. What could be causing this? 1990 x-tra cab short-bed silverado 4x4 w/350 and a stick.

you won't be able to without performing some on-board programming or eliminating some elements. those are sensor monitored from the optimal of the sprint to the BCM of the truck as are the total lighting fixtures. even as the truck's sensor observe a smooth ingredient it really is larger than a predetermined ingredient and there's no headlights on request the BCM facilitates a relay to instruct the DRL on. the least complicated technique to disable this protection characteristic may be to eliminate the bulbs, besides the undeniable fact that this may instant the inner diagnostics of the BCM. or you may want to eliminate the relay from its position contained in the below hood fuse panel, besides the undeniable fact that i imagine that this particular relay has quite a few valuable factors. the broking service's scanner has the flair of programming the BCM to disable that function, yet I are literally not waiting to appreciate why you may favor to attempt this. you won't be able to even see the lighting fixtures even as they're on, yet it really is my opinion. impressive solid fortune.
