Is it possible to find out where the local "hangout" is (whether it be a bar, a coffee shop, or other...)? Maybe grab a free newspaper and see what's going on around town. Then, if you can hit some of those places I think it would be a good way to meet some new people. You've got to have some confidence to go out alone - and I know that's not easy - but it really does pay off. I used to go out alone often, all of my friends were married and/or with kids so I got sick of sitting home waiting! I found that people came up and talked to me when they noticed I was alone more often (and who knows... maybe you'll meet a nice girl along the way too?)

This is what i did. I went for a walk around the block. If i saw anybody i did not know outside i would wave and say hello and ask how they are doing. One time the guy next door was moving some things. I offered to help and he introduced me to the people on our street. I also go to a local coffee shop and joined a volunteer group. In no time i had new friends.

Why can't you go down the street and introduce yourself? I think that makes the most sense.

Do you have a dog? If so, take it for a walk, and introduce yourself to the people you meet along the way. That way, it won't be obvious what you're doing. Just be yourself!

Yes you can introduce yourself, bake plates of cookies and go door to door introducing yourself. Give each neighbor a plate of cookies. Or better yet throw a party in your back yard, invite all the neighbors you want to know.

i think you have to wait for time to come. Also a party can be arranged where you may invite them. That way you can introduce yourself.

I'm not sure how old you are, but maybe you could ride your bike with the intention of intoducing yourself, but it will not look as of you planned it that way.
