I'm trying to block this site where you can sign in and see your grades from school... cause I dont want my parents questioning every assignment/test.
I got a lot of tips to use the Hosts file to block the website, but it doesn't seem to be working. Here's what it says in the entire file, if that's of help:

# For example:
#
# 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
# 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com
127.0.0.1 localhost
# 127.0.0.1 family.universityplace.wa-k12.net

Any info would be appreciated...

hmm, assuming the last entry from above (the one commented out - family.universityplace...) is the web-site address for the web-site which you wish to block, you need to uncomment that.

Assuming you type http://www.family.universityplace.com/show_grades to go to the page which shows grades, you need to include only the host name, ie, www.family.universityplace.com in your hosts file.

Depending upon if you are using a proxy server (if you are), you need to bypass the proxy for the local addresses and for the host name www.family.... in the example above.

You also need to reboot PC or restart networking after making the change (just once, to see the effect of change).

Don't be naughty, be frank. After all, your parents will know your grades somehow!
