I was home. When I heard about the first plane, I thought it was a terrible accident. When I heard about the second, I knew it was no accident, but the shock was too deep and the reports were coming so fast and then the towers went down and I just wanted to get away from the tv and the reports. I took a drive around 5pm but the streets of my town were deserted and the businesses closed...it was then I was starting to realize just how devastating this attack was on our whole country. I found a Wal-mart open (good old Wal-mart), but there was no reprieve from this horror as news reports were on the intercom system and all the murmurings in the store were stunned, whispered conversations about this nightmare we were living...and we're not over it yet...probably never will be.

It was my Birthday and I planned to spend the afternoon playing Chess in Liberty Park across the street form Ground Zero. As I was dressing a neighbor gave me the news, but I though it was some pothead in a Cessna until I turned on the television! Then I went on the roof top and the smoke was so heavy I thought it would fog even where I was which was near thirty blocks away! Hows that for a bithday story!

It was my 1st semester in college. I was about 3 blocks away from the towers.
I thought it was a little fire in one of the buildings nearby [the librarian was telling me about it, but her English wasn't great.. so since I was in a hurry to type up a report, I nodded my head and left]. Then, everyone started to look outside (the library faced the Towers).. I thought I'd look when I was done with the report but I didn't get a chance to.. they told us to evacuate.. so everyone raced out the building [I was still confused]. Then, I came outside and that's when I saw the flames. [We all stood there, stunned, and I think most of us couldn't believe it..]
I looked up and I thought I saw a piece of debris falling then I looked closer.. and the guy next to me confirmed that it was a man.. that image has stuck with me these past 5 years.
Interestingly, My mom used to tell me to visit the buildings around there, including the WTCs..
I still wonder to myself how such a beautiful bright/sunny day turned so disastrous.

I had just got out of bed, the tv was still on , the first plane had just hit. The media was trying to tell us that it was an accident and not an act of terrorism. I remember thinking 'yeah right.'They are so full of b.s. thinking we were going to believe that. Then the second plane hit, and there was no dening it. Terrorism.

What happened 9/11/2006? You realize that we were attacked 5 years prior, right?
Anyway, I was at work in midtown Manhattan. I thought it was an accident until the second plane hit.
