Sexuality is part of the essence of humanity. Physical, palpable, smellable, tasteable, visible. Tangible. It is not separate from you. It is not an alien entity to be fought or appeased;….or is it??

What a romantic and poetic point of view you express.

Clearly a part (the biggest part for many) of humanity, sexuality DOES seem alien at times because we can experience it as something seemingly separate from our 'core sense of self' (the consciousness of our own self). Our sex drive can appear to have a 'mind of its own', arising when we'd rather it wouldn't.

O, for that crazy drive of sex
We become all kinds of wrecks-
"I'll start -- I'll stop -- go fast -- go slow --
Bring it here -- no there -- should I come? Or go?"
And just when we think that we've got some control
The phone rings, it's Loverbuns, and we're off for a roll.

At times our sexuality IS like an entity to be appeased . . . what a great challenge to wrestle, um?

I think that we very much rely on our senses when figuring out what our likes and dislikes are in life, I guess that's why we have them. Certain smells can heighten sexual enjoyment, the taste and feel of a person can far over ride their physical looks. As physical looks are purely a superficial thing. You can look like George Clooney but if you're rubbish in the sack the novelty would soon wear off. Therefore sexuality is very much part of the essence of humanity as we are social beings and are sexuality determines our relations with others. That sexuality is very much determined by our senses which are much more basic and inate then some would like to over complicate!

Lololol. Birds do it, bees do it, peacocks, alligators and ocelots. It is the essence of creation. It is not separate from the whole freaking shooting match (no pun intended). It is a part of the desire that spawns everything. It is as natural as nature and as divine as all of life. It is never appeased which is the whole point. It is not alien, not separate and not ever enough. Thank God, Thank God, Thank God- the greatest, most palpable and sexual lover of all.

Sexuality is a form of sexual pathology, not the essence of anything, let alone humanity.

How can what you do with your penis be considered the 'essence' of humanity? An example of the essence of humanity is saving a drowning child from dying on the beach, not what gets you off....

I wouldn't say that sexuality is a main part of humanity.. Progression and perfection are a main part of human life... sex still includes all the senses, so it has a very relevant significance though... It should never be alien like, but should be treated with respect and wisdom... Not like those who get babies and then abort them, especially when sex is in humans for procreation... It just seems so selfish when people do that... Sex should be used in a way where its to perfect oneself and another... Thats my thoughts...

I think the essence of humanity is that we all possess within us a spark of divine nature, and that it is our opportunity on earth to cultivate that nature, in ourselves and in others. We are spiritual beings. I also think that there is a correlation between sexuality and spirituality. Look at all the religious leaders who get caught in embarrassing situations. So I strongly agree that sexuality is part of the essence of humanity.

Sexuality is very much in me - and I am human. Touch me, smell me, taste me, see me. It's all fun and I hope, for you, good.
