I personally would make it an easy choice for him and decide on my own that he can take the $ and screw it. Obviously she has not only "tried to cause problems" but has succeeded because he chose to allow her to. What a pansy of a man.

I really hope this is a theorhetical question and not an actual sitation. If this situation is real, then it is an utterly sickening commentary on the lack of morals and ethics in this world today.
If the male (because no real man worth the title would even consider this) wants 40 grand, let him get off his a** and work to make 40 grand.
If the mother doesn't like the wife, too bad, it's not her place to interfere in anyone else's marriage, including her sons'
And if the wife stays with the male after he even considers this, well, she doesn't deserve any better than what she's right now: a little boy in a grown male body letting mommy manipulate him with bribes.
I'm certain this is a Jerry Springer episode, just waiting to happen.

Well, obviously he doesn't love you enough to walk away from the money. So I would just suggest getting the divorce, BUT make it difficult for him. Get a GOOD attorney that will put into the divorce stipulations that YOU get HALF of the money that he is expected to inherit from his mother, Make sure that he and his mother disclose the FULL amount that he is to get, so that they cannot try and cheat you. This is going to make it a very LONG and DIFFICULT divorce for him, then maybe this will teach him not to be so greedy. I would do what I had to do to give him what he deserves.

Well if she has always caused problems during the marriage and he loves you than then yea why not collect the money.... although in another way it does sound some what childish to have to divorce you and get the money. but you can always get the divorce and then once she is gone you two can get married again. hope this helps

Aren't you worth more than money?
That man is money hungry. Maybe he intends to divorce you to obtain the money and marry you again!
She is not dead yet! Why is he trippin' ????
You may want to tell him, if he divorces you, he may not be able to get you back! He may be willing to take that chance.
Then you will know what kind of man he is or what he thinks of you. HE may think you will always be there--as his "friend with benefits" or something similar.
His mom may outlive you both!

If he could divorce you for the money do you think he loves you? Why would you want to stay with him? Use it as a wake up call.

He sounds like a real low life sob. I'd tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine, unless you have been married for a certain number of years and they have alomony in your state, then I'd divorce him and take him to the cleaners. If you have children together, child support.

A man who has put a price on the value of his relationship with you would do that. That isn't even a lot of money. You are better off without him.

Well, I guess there's no doubt as to how much you're worth to your husband. Under 40 thousand, that's for sure. You call this, this, this thing a husband ?
