It wasnt a bad game, i'm just not crazy about this new "gambit" battle system. It seems the main role is for the gamer to just sit back and let the game play itself, there's no battle screen, instead it's ALOT like hack//sign. The storyline wasnt bad, but then again it wasnt all that good either. Many of the characters had little to do with each other. The character development was somewhat rushed, and you just dont get that same attachment you do with character that you find in the other FF games. I'd reccomend you rent it first just so you know what your getting.

i've heard good things about it from a lot of owners. However, most of the complaints seem to revolve around the battle system and how system oriented it is. Meaning, you have some say but not all say. Kinda like the game plays itself. The graphics are amazing. Square-E just gets better and better with everygame. however, I do feel this game was a little more of an "inbetween game" meaning that they took time on it and make it nice but the real effort seems to be going towards the next installment, Final Fantasy XIII. Have you seen the previews or clips of XIII??? amazing looking game so far. Just like 7 and 8 were seen as true stories and 9 was kinda an inbetween game to 10 or how X-2 was an inbetween to 11. Not to say those inbetween games were not good... just... the others were made a little better with more effort.

It's worth waiting until it becomes a Greatest Hits. It's just beautiful, but it feels hollow and the gameplay isn't comfortable at all. I bought it the first day it came out and I'm having a tough time sticking to it. And I'm a Final Fantasy addict usually!
If you want a good RPG in general, go for it. If you want a good Final Fantasy, though, just sit tight a few more months, 'til it's cheaper.

Yes. But, as someone else noted, the battle system is no longer the fast turn-based, so it takes some time to figure out unless you spent lots of time playing FF XI.
The music is not as good as it was in X, but the scenery and secondary characters are fun and kind of Star Wars-eque.
