it's not ozone if you are talking about a layer, ozone is O3 not nessecarily a layer. i think you want to look for a specific type of scattering but i don't remeber which

one probably find it on wikiepdia.

The topmost layer of the Earth's Atmosphere contains the Ozone Layer
It is the Qzone layer that filters the radiation of the Sun. It is located in the Exosphere area (Uppermost Atmosphere)

It plays an important part in atmospheric electricity and forms the inner edge of the magnetosphere. It has practical importance because, among other functions, it influences radio propagation to distant places on the Earth.
