I don't want to sound discouraging but I wasn't able ot get my baby to latch. I have inverted nipples and find it irritating when looking up information on the topic how everyone says yes but doesn't say how much harder it actually is. I am expecting again and will try to breastfeed again, but being more informed this time around I won't let anyone make me feel guilty this time if I can't. The people that just simply answer yes have no experience trying really hard to to breastfeed with inverted nipples.

Yes, they can most certainly breastfeed. Usually you don't need those "devices" to bring out your nipples. They recommend that you stimulate them or your bf/husband, and try to get them to protrude on there own. If that doesn't work you can go and by the "devices" and see if they work. Inverted nipples is no reason not to breastfeed. I know a woman who had her nipples cut off and she was still able to breastfeed out of one breast and she did.

Yes it is possible , and I don't mean to scare you , but it hurts. As they suck it draws out the nipple, and it is very painful. I only had an inverted nipple on my right side. It hurts so bad for me that I just pumped on that side and breastfed my baby off of the other side. It does get better though.

Yes, usually...the "ring things" that go in your bra are called breast shells. It's also possible to get nipple shields to use when actually feeding. They help draw the nipple out.

Yes, absolutely! Sometimes it takes a lot of work, although it is well worth it. I highly suggest being in touch with a lactation consultant even before the baby is born. La Leche League is also a great resourc, and they have local meetings that can be great to attend both before and after the baby is born. KellyMom (see sources) also is an excellent resource.

yes, but it takes some work. there are special devices you put in your bra in the last few weeks of pregnancy that help pull the nipples out.

Yea, one of my friends has that... she has a ring type devise that helps. I didn't think about that until now... cause she is nursing and doing well with it I guess.
