How do you avoid it? Is it like diaper rash? What product would provide relief?

I try to switch back and forth using pads and tampons each time so that the damp doesn't stay for too long. I also use dial soap to wash because firstly it will kill the bacteria from the blood and also it dries the rash which is what you want. And it may sound horrible but ever since I had my daughter a year ago I have taken to using her diaper rash cream from time to time and it does a wonderful job so that the rash does not get a chance to get raw and painful. I use A&D creamy ointment. Don't get the regular ointment as it will not work the same.

Maybe you're allergic to the maxi pads you're using? Have you tried different types, or exclusively using tampons? Make sure you change your pads really often, so they don't get damp and cause rashes. You could also try a diaper rash cream, something with zinc oxide in it, like Desitin. It's very good stuff and might help you to feel better.

Do you use pads? With "wings" or without? If you use pads with wings, switch to some without. Or, if the rash only appears towards the end of your period, alternate between wings and without wings so that your leg doesn't rub up against the wings all the time.

You may also want to try switching brands of pads, in case you are using one that you are allergic to. You can find many brands that are hypoallergenic or don't have scents or perfumes - they can cause contact dermatitis.

Try switching from pads to tampons. It could be that your skin doesn't like rubbing up against a scratchy pad every day. Make sure you're wearing cotton underwear.

Do you wear pads? The friction combined with moisture could be causing it. I used to get cysts and occasionally irritation from wearing pads when I used to wear pads.

Since there is obviously more moisture at that time, maybe you can put some talcum powder on your upper inner thighs to absorb some.
