Im afraid you are basically out of luck, unless you go to a check cashing place, actually you can go to two of them and then get up to your ears in quickie debt.

600 is not a bad credit score. try applying through CitiFinancial and other similar direct lenders. Most of them will require proof of veichle ownership though. Credit cards is another option unless you need cold cash. And if worst comes to worst, then use several payday lenders if you do not have any outstanding payday loans. You can get up to $1,000 so applying for 4 loans may be an option.

I would recommend your local credit union - they may loan you money when no one else will. However, instead of the obvious, why don't you try to solve the root?

Walmart and other companies are starting to drop the price of meds, and his physician may be willing to prop him up with "free samples" until you get on your feet. That will be free - drug reps give tons of samples.

For the hospital, they don't charge "interest" if you have a payment plan with them, so don't borrow money to pay the hospital, just work out a payment plan.

What is fishy about this story is that you only need $1,000 and this will cure all of your ills. Singulair costs $120 / month, and getting bones set at a hospital has to be at least $3 - 4k, so I don't know where this money is needed. However, try my other suggestions and perhaps you won't need that loan.

How's your credit? If decent, then I'd go with some sort of credit card (may go that way anyway). If not...I'd put off paying the hospital. What's the worst they're going to do...ruin your credit?

Have you checked on prosper.com for a loan?

I could give you a more permanent solution but you don't allow email and have no contact in your profile.
