gauge actually refers to the number of feet of iron wire it takes to weigh a pound....it takes 10 feet of 10 gauge iron wire to make a pound and it takes 30 feet of 30 gauge iron wire to make a pound.
at some point in time this got applied to sheet metal and this gauge system works about the same way.....the bigger the number the thinner the sheet metal.
10 ga tubing is made from 10 ga metal and the wall thickness would be a little over 1/8"
hope this helps

It is the thickness of a the plate. Gauge is often used to reference the diameter of wire. The closer lower the number the thicker the wire or plate. For example 30 gauge is thinner than 10 gauge.
Gauges 5 through about 14, the wire gauge is effectively the number of bare solid wires that, when placed side by side, span 1 inch. That is, 8 gauge is about 1/8" in diameter.
Earrings or piercing thicknesses are also measured in

Gauge simply means thickness of a metal. The higher the gauge, the thinner the metal. If i'm not mistaken gauge is measured in millimeters, only backwards.
Like in electrical wiring, 14 guage wire is about a 16th inch and 10 guage is almost a 1/4 inch etc. etc.
In otherwords, the lower the gauge the thicker it is.

There are several types of gauges. One is thickness of the wall of the pipe, another is the of thickness wire (stranded or solid core), It can also mean thickness of a sheet of metal, you have air gauges which measures air pressure. It goes on from there. You have gauges and then you have gages, Which are basically the same.

MCR, by a long shot. Atreyu does have a few metal-like bits in a few of their songs so I can see how kids might get confused. I've never heard FoB called metal, though. I merely refer to them as "suckage". and scenekids/emo children don't change lightbulbs. They cry and fuss in the dark until a metalhead or Classical music freak gets irritated by how often he steps on the emo shites and changes the lightbulb (I don't like getting emo on my boots)
