The question of free will vs. determinism is a metaphysical question that can completely disregarded.

If by destiny, you mean that people's thoughts and actions have causes behind them, then this must be the case, since no action can be without cause.

If by choice, you mean that people's thoughts or mental states directly lead to actions by these people, then this is surely also the case.

So, both possibilities are right, and an either-or question is not appropriate. Even if it does turn out that one of these choices is wrong, you couldn't possibly prove it.

Both. We are predestined to get what ever karma(reaction from past life actions) from our previous life we deserve. Good and bad Karma come like the waves in the ocean. We have a choice on how we act towards those things to be detached and rely on God to protect you. Our main two choices in life are Maya (illusion) or reality (God also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, etc. ) we can change our destiny only by relying on the Absolute Truth and purification. Maybe it's just a roll of the dice ? NO. Life is way more
complicated than that. Perhaps it is both. No one knows for
sure. I think some people are definetly meant to do a special
"assignment" here. The rest of us muddle along trying to find out
what we need to do or want to do. I believe the reason for this is
this: The most highly evolved spirits, choose the most difficult
tasks. Simply put. But that's just what I believe in the most
basic terms. But there is alot more of course.
