Most likely not.
China is holding over 1/2 $ trillion of our bonds. Nobody walks away from that kind of money. The position is so big they can't even sell it because no one has enough cash to buy it.
China has become a very active trading partner. A lot of corporate interests on both sides would apply a lot of pressure (read - withhold campaign contributions) to keep the peace. Since politicians are bought by this corporate money, they will do as the corporations say.
The only wild card is Taiwan. Frankly, I don't think it's worth it to the Chinese to try to reestablish sovereignty there. There are too many better opportunities elsewhere for them now. But pride and ego can be a funny thing . . .

Any country could go to war, but they wouldn't. It would be difficult to say who would win assuming there was no outside interference. It would be a close fight, and both countries would be left in devestation. America might have the advantage because they are already armed and prepared for war (with Iraq and all) but that also means that a lot of America's resources are being used elsewhere, so if it were to turn to Total War, China would win. Since there are always other countries to have something to gain from eachother, it would turn into a World War and it's really impossible to say who would win in the long run.

I am not US citizen but I have a lot of Chinese friends and used to work for some Chinese bosses. Trust me they are too busy with being prosperous rather than going to war.
Of course from time to time there were these moronic leaders, but they will not last long especially if the war is costing the people money. They are more materialistic than you think.
If there is any Asian countries you should worry about, will be Korea or Japan. They possess enough knowledge and determination to go to war. Their loyalty to culture or leader is unbreakable - there is no amount of money can buy their loyalty, why do you think they still worship Kim with empty stomach?

NO, don't worry about a war with China. If anything, China has a deep respect for us, even if they don't openly admit it. The U.S. was largely responsible for keeping them from being overrun by the Japanese during WW2. They more than us, remember history. If you don't know what I'm talking about, then I would suggest looking it up on the net. We have plenty of differences, but they will be resolved through negotiations.

Open war is highly unlikely, for the same reason open war was highly unlikely with the Soviet Union; good old mutually assured destruction. Another cold war is likely if Americans buy into government propaganda once more.
Economic warfare will be the battlefield, and already is. The U.S. and China are fighting all over the world to get their hands on resources first, oil in particular.

only if it happens in the next 3 to 5 years and that is highly unlikely. All of the trends in the United States point to its demise in the next 15 to 25 years. It will be an implosion caused by severe economic forces that will lead to higher poverty and more sevre starvation and disease. THe American system, as we know it, will be no more by 2030. Atleast that's the way I see it. I might be wrong.

US-China War is not imminent because both countries respect each other due to trade unlike Iraq, Iran and North Korea.

No. China is hypnotized by a new and incredible power. The American Dollar.
But, they refuse to denounce communism, which is the anti-thesis of capitalism. Something big will have to happen soon.
