can be a limit contained in the device witch slows or stops the nice and cozy water from flowing by the heater coil at idle yet once you % up the water rigidity will develop through more effective pump % permitting the fluid to flow by the the heater coil again. attempt flushing the device and replacing with clean anti-freeze an water 50/50 blend.

i own a repair shop, and you need to check and see if it has coolant in it, and if the hoses are heating upon it,if there getting hot enough to give off heat ,,you might have some blockage in the heater core,or it may have a bad inside control unit on it or a bad heater valve on it,,this is what shuts the flow of coolant on,and off when you select it from heat to cold, and either one of these can cause a no heat situation ,on any car so if you check, all of this i think you,ll find the problem with it,,good luck,i hope this help,s..and have a good thanksgiving.

You probably need a new thermostat. Heater core problem won't make cold air, so much as it will make humidity inside the car. Core could be clogged, though. If you are out of antifreeze, your motor will overheat. Plain water works as good as antifreeze, unless it's frozen. You probably need a new thermostat. (In your coolant line... on the top side probably)

Three things to have checked are:
Radiator antifreeze might be low.
The thermostat might need replaced.
There is a item called the heater core.

Make sure the reservoir for the antifreeze is at the correct level, If its okay then I would look towards possible thermostat may be sticking (there quite cheap) and you can probably do it yourself, next could be the water pump. I had a simular problem on my sunfire it was low in antifreeze.

Eazy, You are in need of a new heater core. Can be an eazy fix depeneding on where it sits in your engine. Its either that or you need a new thermostat, even easier to fix.

The heater coil is going out, if it is all the time than it has gone out. Happened to me, but luckily I live in the south, so my winters are not so frigid.

What about the temp. control lever itself? Though rare, sometimes they break. Buttons? even more likely. Just a thought.
