To have sex after you give birth? My daughter is 3wks today, and I'm done bleeding. They say at least 4wks, some ppl I know say as soon as they're done bleeding they have. I had my tubes tied too.. should I give my insides a little extra to heal? I'm not sore anymore.

After a tubal you can have sex as soon as you feel comfortable. You might not want your husband to put much of his weight on you though-just because. As far as after the delivery, I've heard to wait a week after you're done bleeding. I don't think you really have to wait 6 weeks. The only reason I say that is because when I went to my 6-week postpartum appt. the midwife asked if I'd "resumed sex", like it would have been ok to do so before...and I had a 3rd degree laceration! I'd say wait a week, but you know your body best!

6 weeks is the normal amount of time AFTER your 6 week check up with your OB/GYN. Don't have sex until you are cleared to do so. With having your tubes tied (which usually isn't really a tie but cauterized) you want to make sure you are healed completely..

No it is not when ever you feel you are ready rather all OBs say 6 weeks & most OBs add 2 weeks to that if you had your tubes tied to lessen the risk of infection. If you want call your OBs office and ask them

Talk to your Dr if you are concerned. My DH and I only wanted 5 weeks. I was hmm.. really ready, to say the least, not really sure what came over me. I didn't have a vaginal birth though and I think if I would have I may have waited, esp with tears and incisions down there. Hubby was VERY gentle.

you really should talk to your doctor first, have an internal exam first, just to make sure that everything is as ready as you feel.

a friend of mine waited 2 weeks, I waited 6 months because I bled for about 12 weeks then I was in pain still when we tried having sex at 4 and 5 months.

Most doctors will tell you to wait six weeks to allow your body plenty of time to heal. I know it seems like a long time, but you will probably thank yourself later!

id wait the 4 weeks, you can now but if you wait its less of a chance of hurting a healing wound.

I waited 11 years. After birth, you should never have the desire for sex again. You are so not norman.
