I was just watching this on Youtube and it doesn't sound like him at all. The singer's voice is not the same as the Johnny Cash that everyone knows. So I'm curious if this is a song/video done in tribute to him (I noticed a few celebs in the video were lipsynching to the lyrics and clapping in sync with the clapping in the song) or did he actually sing and release this even though he's been deceased for a number of years now? It's very rare for a singer to release a song after they've passed away.

Seems odd that his voice would change that much though. Because "Hurt" was considered his last song and that was released many years after a long hiatus where he was very ill. Shortly afterwards it was announced that he died. There was no word of other recordings at all.

Even in "Hurt" his voice is no different than his earlier recordings. To me, the singer's voice sounds very similar to the guy who narrates the opening sequence, who is obviously not Johnny.

Its not unheard of to have video's released after one is passed...I did a little looking though and check out what I found...It seems all these people have done a tribute to this song, so its possible, it could have been one of them.

Very nicely done, all-star video tribute to Johnny Cash in the form of a video for "God's Gonna Cut You Down." Featuring Iggy Pop, Kanye West, The Rolling Stones, Johnny Depp, Corinne Bailey RaePatti Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, New York from Flavor of Love, Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake and 238 other people.

nicely, first, i'm notably optimistic that it is not even an unique song by using him. besides, the song is largely approximately repentance and how the "sinners" will, interior the long-term, pay for their "sins." I placed those in quotations, as a results of fact the thought of a "sin" is ridiculous to me. There are quite some sins that are actually not significant, consisting of making use of God's call in ineffective, producing a graven image, donning mixed fabric, touching a pig, shaving your beard outdoors of a temple, coveting your neighbor's possessions or spouse, engaged on the sabbath, etc. those are all issues that carry no concerning whether or no longer you're a powerful man or woman.
