It does not sound good for hamster, the average life span for regular hamsters is between 1 1/2 to 2 years. He may just be going from old age Honey. Call the vet and see if there is anything they can do. Keep him warm and try not to startle him..just keep offering food and water. Hugs

well it sounds to me like he's sick I used to breed hamsters and it's hard to tell without looking at him but does his poo look different? is his backend wet if so he could have wet tail and he will eventually die (by pooping out his insides) or he could just be old hamsters only live 2-3 years and so he might just be dying of old age. Do you have a cat or dog that could've scared him really bad or could someone have dropped him. Hamsters are known to fall right on their heads so it could be something to do with that. Best thing to do is give it a couple days and keep watching him if his behavior doesn't change you might want to start figuring out the best way to put him down. If you have any questions feel free to email me ok? Good Luck

Don't assume he is dying. I had hamsters that lived much longer than 2 years! Here is a website that will explain other causes for his strange behavior. http://exoticpets.about.com/cs/hamsters/a/hamsterhealth.htm

he could be cold. How long has he been acting this way? What is the temperature like?
I'm so sorry about this. Take care, and just help him be comfortable.....if you take him to the vet, that vet can give him meds to make the process less painful

You may want to take him to the vet. Hamsters life span's are on the average 2 years though they have been known to live to be 4 years old. Could be your hamster is just getting old but I would ask the vet. Hope he is okay.

This is happening to my pet rat right now. She's always in the same spot, we've moved her water and food dish close to her so she can reach for it. She is developing a small tumor also, shes 5 years old. I don't want to see her suffer. So I hope you can post back how your hampster is doing. My rat is doing everything your hampster is doing, thanks. Sorry by the way.

I have had tons of hamsters. Yes, prepare yourself. Your hamster has lived a very long time than most. You can't really do anything at this point. Just let it be and die in peace.
