I am not sure that we think that baseball is better than cricket, it's just that we don't play cricket here, baseball, football, and basketball are our main sports. It just has to do with culture. If we played cricket here, and not baseball, then the situations would be reversed. I don't think any American walks around thinking about baseball being better than cricket.

I'm an NRI living in America so I've watched a good number of cricket matches and baseball games. Americans like baseball because they're very familiar with it and they've seen it for so many years. I'm sure that when it was first introduced, not many people played it. It's only really started in the 20th century. Now, with all of the Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, and Sri Lankans coming to America, cricket is starting to get introduced. Maybe in the next century, Americans will start to like cricket. Who knows? All I know is that the American Cricket Team can't play for their lives!

Probably because we don't play Cricket on this side of the pond. Though Baseball is just a game it has become a National institution much like your Cricket. I may offend some by this next statement but ....Too Bad! Baseball is more popular than our game of Football or Basket Ball. Those both have rabid fans but neither game has the longevity or hero status that Baseball holds. It isn't called the national sport for no reason. It's a game that anyone can play, from young children to older adults. It can be played with a minimum of equipment (sticks & taped balls) or with players using hundreds of dollars worth of equipment. It can be a very democratic game also. Bankers play with laborers & police play against criminals. Millionaires don't hold preference over some poor SOB just because they have money. Children learn team work & adults.... well... that would take to long to explain. It's a social melting pot were the only thing that matters is the game and not your social status. As such it's the most American game there is. And the bottom line is... It's FUN!

Ive Played Baseball and softball, ive seen alot of Cricket matches in UK when i visit... i think it is just a case of understanding. Noone here really plays cricket, and alot of people play and watch Baseball here. Im not saying they would like cricket here if they did see it more, it's a very odd game, and it probably would be alot like soccer here..the games that are popular in the US are games we have been playing here for hundreds of years...Baseball, Football, Hockey, Basketball, even Golf, have been played here for Decades.. Soccer, in terms of play in the US, is very young, and Cricket would be a new born... so thats why Americans think baseball is better than cricket, Unfamiliarity with it and the fact its just NOT played here.

Because it's just in our blood as Americans, there's just something about eating a hot dog and watching a baseball game during a summer afternoon. It's like Apple Pie and picnics.

Although the quality of the game might be going down because of enhancing drugs it's still an American past time.

A Better question might be, Why Do you think cricket is better than baseball?

Because baseball has a rich history and tradition and it's America's Pastime. And as the first person to answer this question said, nobody plays cricket in America.

Well, I like baseball better than cricket only because I have no idea what cricket is. The only cricket I know is that annoying bug that makes that sound in the night. Meh, whatever. I'm a soccer fan...or, to you guys, futball.

I enjoy cricket but baseball doesn't go on for days or feature one batsmen batting for hours.

Baseball is better than Cricket for the same reason that Football is better than Soccer. They're AMERICAN!!! They're plain and simple, drinkin' a beer, screamin' at the ump/ref for making a bad call AMERICAN, and we wouldn't want it any other way!!!
