Is it better to be honest about the reason, or just try not to hurt their feelings?

with some experience in this stuff, I can tell you whatever you do, you will be second guessing yourself for a while.

When it comes time to do it, be quick. "Howsoever deep the knife plunge, the finely sharpened blade cuts cleanly and leaves but a tiny scar."

I just recommend that you do what is best for you but do it with class. You'll thank yourself (and me) later on.

Good luck and take care of yourself.

Try not to hurt their feelings. It is most likely "the reason" is something they are not likely to be able to change. Just be kind and move on, if you give them a reason they will make allot of promises to change, but most likely won't.

Be honest. If you try not to hurt their feelings then you don't really take them seriously. Don't waist your time with people your not serious about. Since you don't take them serious, it does not matter either way.

It doesn't matter.
If you don't want to love them anymore be honest.
Try and break off clean if the guy wasn't a killer and things just didn't work out. If there are any kids, which I doubt, try and keep them together.

Try not to hurt their feelings... if it is over for you.. the real reason is not important. They probably cannot do anything about it anyway.

I would suggest to try and not hurt them if possible, the end of
the relationship may be painful enough

Think about what you would want if you were on the other side. Honesty truly is the best policy.
