i have one of the cheap 3D fuzion PCI video card with 128mb DDR.
the core speed of the GPU is 275mhz and the RAM speed is dual 350mhz.i am useing STOCK cooling on the GPU.what would be a safe speed to overclock it to.i have one 120mm intake fan in the front bottom of the case and a 120mm in the front of the case blowing the air out.the card is on the last slot and there is NO slot covers. i am going to get a slot cooler so what would be a safe speed BEFORE i get the slot cooler and AFTER i get a slot cooler.

There's no way to tell the safe top operating clock speed of every video card made. They are all different. Rule of thumb is to increase the core clock speed by 2mhz at a time. Monitor the temperature and run 3dmark every time you bump up the mhz. If you start getting artifacts, computer freezes, restarts, it gets over 80f, etc... then you've reached the limit. Good luck.

Many manufacturers bin their chips - they stress test them, and sell the ones that can take more as higher end models. The ones that can't may get features disabled, or just sold as a model with a lower clock speed. The "factory overclocked" cards are the highest end model that chip can be sold as, but still has headroom for safely running at a higher speed, so the company sold it at a higher clock rate. It will have a shorter life span, but the lifespan of an overclocked component is still longer than anyone you would buy overclocked parts to begin with...if you're willing to buy an overclocked graphics card, generally you aren't the person using the same PC 10 years down the road.

wah calm down....ok...you should of told me is the GPU made from ati or nvidia...if its from ati go download ATI tool...it safely looks for a overclocking limit for your card...and then your comptuer will freeze you will restart your com then run the program and it will show the last setting...then you can determine your self...if its a Nvidia well you will have to overclock from the registery...somehow lol i dont really care about Nvidia they suck
