'cuz it seems like your whole life, you've had your eye on the prize, and everything you did had meaning and purpose, as a means to an end of achieving that goal. now, you find the truth in "be careful what you wish for, it might come true." Perhaps you're bored because it wasn't all you thought it was cracked up to be. Maybe you miss the adrenalin rush of the dog-eat-dog path to the top. Perhaps you need a new, more meaningful challenge. The first part of your life was focused on developing you - getting what you want. Perhaps the second part could focus on what that fantastic, evolved "you" can offer to the world. You'll never get bored if channel your special talents & skills to work, focusing how they can best be utilized in service to your fellow man. good luck.

Very often after a person works in a certain career for x numbers of years the repetition becomes monotonous. I recall a conversation I had with a few of my Friends who are Radiologists I marveled as I stood behind them finding cancerous growth, fractures, edemas etc...my untrained eye was in a state of marvel. And one day one of them said to me so matter of factly.....I've been doing this for 20 years you've seen one fractured tibia you've seen em' all. the point is tasks seem to become more remote the more we do them. So, as others have mentioned a healthy person may either start a second career, and or take up all sorts of hobbies the first career has allowed them the privilege to enjoy! As far a certain crisis occurring at different life stages I like to think in terms of transformations rather than crisis.

There's a built in human drive to achieve more and to overcome challenges. Once you take that away, people become listless and they start looking around for an artificial reason to strive and struggle and worry. Personally, I use job worries to distract myself from other things in my life that I am unhappy about. If I suddenly had all the money in the world I would probably be a little depressed for a while because I would have to face my life and wonder what the heck it's about.

Sounds like you need a hobby. Life should not center around your profession. Enjoy life.

Because you want to be challenged. My suggestion would be to volunteer your time outside of work and find something worthwhile to do. Or try attending night classes.

Or test drive another career:
