It depends on how you unravel it. The intestine is coiled not only by the tube, but also within the tube there is an incredible amount of surface area in order to absorb nutrients (and in the case of the large intestine) water. If you were to lay this epithelial tissue out flat, then uncoil the actual coiled organ, it may stretch pretty far. I'm not sure about the entire world, though.

It it not only a question of length, but also a question of weight. Assuming an intestine weighs 2 kg or 4 pounds, and given that it is 40000 km around the world, your question is answered by a simple division. It is equivalent of asking if a ten-millionth of a pound, of anything, can be streached in exces of a yard, which it obviously can't. Myth busted...

Nope .. most intestines only get stretched a few yard... However If you have a HUGGGGGEEEEEE person then you might be able to get it closer to a mile and a half ..
