You have to remember even if she is using protection are they using it correctly, it can break etc. etc. So the possibility of getting pregnant are good.
I bet there is alot of people who have gotten pregnant by just using protection and not on the pill.

The pill should prevent ovulation. And if the ovulation does occur, maybe there were doses of other medicines or missed pill etc, then it is possible to get pregnant from that. And I dont recommend to anyone that they take the low dose birth control pills Ortho tri-cyclen low, i got pregnant on this pill. . . Good luck with your talk :)

First of all we all ovulate at different rates, so it depends on where the egg is at the time. Talk with her and question her about what she considers protected sex, her definition could be far from yours. The only sure way to avoid pregnancy is not to have sex!

Hey, THE only way to guarantee no pregnancy is no sex. Why on earth does our culture encourage teens to screw around? Sounds like she does not need the basic 11-yr old talk. She already knows. How sad. What she needs is a good moral example from you. It is good that she is asking you since you are family and not keeping you in the dark. Sounds like she trusts you. Now be the adult.

tell her it's very likely to get pregnant. It doesn't matter if a person is using the pill and a condom or any form of contraceptive, they can still get pregnant. Hunny I got pregnant with a condom and using birth control. She needs to know the consequences, there are girls having babies at the age of 12 and all around there.

I believe that a condom is 99% effective, when used properly, condoms are only used properly 46% of the time (according to the CDC) so I would say 5 to 7 % chance, alot less if the person she is with learns how to properly use a condom

If she has protected sex..She should be pretty safe..I, personally, would still talk to her about getting on the pill (just to be safe!)..Sometimes young people's hormones get carried away and they don't always have or remember to use condoms..
