If Joel can find an under cabinet dishwasher for $100 let us all know! He is however correct that it would be most equitable to buy a new unit which is designed for the purpose. Additional drain and water supply plumbing will have to be installed as well as electrical. End result.. no more floor space taken, and less worries.

I've heard of other people who have done this before and usually end up taking it back out and installing a regular dishwasher instead. You can buy a brand new dishwasher for a little over $100 anymore. The portables have a drain hose similar to a washing machine that may not adapt ot a standard dishwasher drain outlet that goes under a sink trap. And the water supply line is designed to be connected to the faucet which is a larger diameter than a standard water supply line and would take a different shutoff valve to connect it. You're open to do what you want to do, but in my estimation, it may be wiser to invest the money in something that would be permanent. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Save yourself the hassel of a portable dishwasher and buy a built-in. They're about $200 at Sears.
