You are absolutely right. The vast majority of us are against the EU. Most of us think that we have gone much too far already. About 80% of us didn't want to join the currency because that would definitely have led to a loss of sovereignty and inevitably would have brought us fully within a federal state of Europe. This government, however, aided and abetted by the left leaning TV media and other acolytes have blocked out the voice of the anti EU side, and meanwhile, have taken us as far into Europe as possible, leaving the currency issue until they feel they can win the vote.
No government in this country is elected into power to give power away to a foreign entity. Also, no government has the power to bind a successor government. This simply means that no government can do anything that cannot be undone by a following government. What is happening in this country is beyond belief and is definitely unconstitutional. The EU's 'Human Rights Act' has already caused huge problems, particularly with immigration and the compensation culture.
Why do you think that it might be implemented in the US? I am confused by that. Left wing governments don't believe in the nation state, they believe that their ideaology should be spread everywhere without restriction. That is why we have migrants and not immigrants. We have a very dangerous government, quite the most dangerous I have ever known in this country.
You can probably understand why we have this problem when you look at some of the moronic answers to your question. The majority are OK though.

Sadly many don't and believe the EU benefits the country which it clearly doesn't . The only people who benefit are failed politicians like Neil Kinnock and his wife and countless unelected bureaucrats. We were lied to in 1973 about it being about trade the plan was always about the creation of a European superstate but they knew the British people would not agree to give away are nationhood so i doing so without are consent through various acts. Many don't realise this is treason as it breaks the Magna Carta and the Queens carnation oath dissolving sovereignty to a foreign power and making the monarch a European citizen. They also plan to dismantle England into regions i believe they find its existence a threat . Its supporters seem to be either anti British left wingers or just plain misguided about what the EU is .

Because the majority of people unfortunately don't give a ****.. Meaning the rich pickings.. Don't forget LONDON is the sodding capital and who gets the most money who gets the better pay who gets the better jobs.. Where's no10, where's the houses of Parliament, where's all the rich folk live? The towns and country around the rest of Britain don't get a say it's just the capital that counts..There's is a lot of confusion in people too many choices too many opinions.. Britain will never be stable again unfortunately because there is no one cause to fight for anymore.. There's too much freedom if you ask me everyone is spoilt for choice

We will never give up our soverignty however a unified Europe is crucial to the future of the world. Only a unified Europe can stand up to the US both politically and economically, it is a huge force for good, granted we only hear about its failures and burocracies but without it smaller states in Europe would be very poor. It also means there will never be a war in Europe between its members.
t's a beautiful concept meaning different countries don't have to gain at the expense of their neighbours instead they mutually assist each other. It's a concept I doubt many in power in the US could comprehend as it's not purely about economic and political gains it's about ensuring all people of Europe live decent lives and have a future.

We're not giving up anything. Legally, we must have a referendum to either get closer to Europe, or distance ourselves.
Referenda in France and Denmark both came back with a crippling "no".
Ours was shelved, even before being announced, as a result.
Germany is not so bad, either - they're not trying to dominate the world via the ballot-box rather than the bomb.

I think you will find that most Brits are concerned, politicians are only concerned about themselves mostly, not the masses(US), PS- unless theres an election coming up.We voted for a common market, (goods etc) not open plan borders, now we can't even wave our own flag without some jobsworth saying it might be illegal. it makes me feel sick & ashamed to think we have sunk so low. I just hope your politicians are made of stronger stuff than ours, mind you if Bush has his way he would probabley want to invade in the name of democracy

Beyond my poor brain, this one.
I'll just write to our State Governor mr A.J. Blair (Republican) and ask if he could bring it up with president Bush as to whether America will let the EC take away the freedom of its 51st State...
Can't have all those socialist liberal islam-lovers and cheese-eating surrender monkeys eroding America's legitimate sphere of interest in Europe, can we?
