I'm going to have to say go with the rat. I love my rat. I've had hamsters as well. Dwarf hamsters commonly become agressive. My rat is the sweetest. He responds to his name and I taught him to poo only in his cage. And unlike a hamster, rats actually want to come out and see you and don't hide away all day. Rats are like the dogs of the rodent world lol. But just a suggestion :)

initially, that's never a stable theory to combine diverse species of rodents mutually, particularly while it contains rats. in spite of the undeniable fact that rats are social animals, and revel in the corporate of contributors of their very own species, they're additionally omnivores and characteristic been usually happening to seek and kill different, smaller rodents. Your rat and your hamsters won't hassle one yet another before everything, yet there is not any way of telling if or while your rat's organic tendencies will kick in. because of the fact rats develop into plenty larger than hamsters, your hamster won't have the potential to shelter itself. that's in my view a threat i does not take with any of my pets.
