You want 3/4 inch hardwood floors. They are a little more expensive than laminates, but laminates will scratch.

Laminates would be o.k. if you are like 85 years old and don't move around the house that much.

I just installed laminate. I wanted hardwood but it cost alot more. And I remembered the days of seeing my mother wax and buff our hardwood floors. No need to do that with laminate. I love my laminate floors, but still would have preferred hardwood simply because of the look of the grooves between the slats. Hardwood takes more work and looks better, but laminate is very carefree. What I really love is that after I sweep, when I mop, the mop is very seldom dirty unless something was spilled.

If you want something permanent then go with hardwood flooring. We took the cheaper option and went with laminate and I hate it. I wish we had coughed up and gotten hardwood. Laminate scratches too easily though they are easier to clean and don't require polishing. Hardwood floors still scratch but not so easily and I don't believe the scratches show up as badly unless you keep it highly polished. Plus you can always re-sand and polish hardwood to give it new life, you can't do that with laminate.

both are good, will depend on the application. if you have concrete floor, a floating floor is the best like laminate. but if you have plywood as subfloor you can use hardwood. the pros on the hardwood is that you can resand it as many times as you want, but you wont be needing it maybe in a couple of years say 15years. there's also the look, hardwood is the real thing so it has the real wood look. laminates are man made if you will look closely you can see that it looks printed. but there are manufacturers that makes it look natural. it will always depend on the look you want to achieve and of course the budget which you would like to consider, laminates are cheaper. as i have said both are good options.

It depends on your lifestyle......If you have pets, I would go with laminate. If you like elegance then I would go with the real thing. Hardwood is classier, laminate is tougher. Both can be destroyed by water, laminate resist the harsh nails of a dog and cleans up easier with kids. Hardwood depending on lots of factors can look good for years. Laminate looks fake but again is cheaper and tougher.......hope this helps

I have real hardwood
If I had it to do again I would go with a high quality laminate like Purgo.
They look good they are indestructable and you can easily install them yourself.
Water will really damage hardwood So you have to clean up every spill

Hardwood floors are by far longer lasting and durable, But they are also a lot more expensive for materials and labor to install. And you have to have a really good sub-floor.

The laminate floor is less expensive and easier to install and does not require finishing, and it provides almost the same look and feel... I would choose this one.

Either of the two are good and bad, Laminate look good but if (when)they get chipped they are done . As to Hardwood when it gets dented you can have them sanded and refinished! No flooring last as long as manf. says it does
