At one point, I was an ovo-vegan (the only animal product I ate was free-range eggs), and I still eat a mostly vegetarian diet now. I am also a pro-life activist and do sidewalk counseling outside abortions mills. I have a sidewalk counseling friend who is a total vegan.
However, I would agree that MOST vegans/vegetarians tend to be pro-aborts. I think that if those with open minds would just take some time to learn about pain perception in the unborn, they may reconsider their position. I'm afraid that azzparagus's contention that abortions are "humane" is completely false. The babies are not given anethesia as they are suctioned apart, ripped apart, or burned to death, regardless of where or how the abortions are committed. An ultrasound of a first trimester abortion shows the unborn baby struggling violently in an effort to escape the abortionist's instrument, while her hearbeat doubles and her mouth opens wide.
For information on prenatal pain perception, see:

For well-documented information on all aspects of abortion, see http://Abort73.com
And I just found this list of pro-life, pro-animal rights groups:

Probably because these are just more people who tend to look at doing things another way rather than just blindly follow what others were taught to do like sheep. I'm NOT saying that only vegans or vegetarians think for themselves, but I don't think many religious folks think for themselves, and they're typically the ones who are against abortion the most. Eating meat and abortions are UNRELATED ISSUES. I am not a vegetarian or a vegan, and I AM PRO CHOICE. Abortion is NOT simply about the life or death of an embryo - it is about the rights of women and the rights over their own bodies. Women have the right to enjoy a good sex life without simply using it as a means in which to just have children. MANY women take contraceptives because they love sex and don't want children. It's not right or fair to take away her rights and FORCE her to bear children because her contraceptives failed. Adoption my @ss. Pregnancy is not for everyone - SAFE SEX IS and so are rights over your own body.

only the lowest forms of life would say that abortions are humane and then turn around and say that killing an animal is cruel. what a horrible statement. when babies are aborted they are torn apart piece by piece. and then some say what matters is the woman's rights and could care less about the rights of the unborn child.
it does seem like most vegans are liberal-minded.

I can understand where you're coming from but vegans could always ask the pro-life people why they eat meat. If they're pro-life why are they killing animals when they could choose not too?

Sadly it's true. vegans do support abortion. It's sad how they protect the write of abortion by saying that it's a woman's body she can do what she wants. yet, they want to protect animals; things that have no feelings, dreams, emotions, or a soul.

i am a vegetarian
and i am pro-abortion
i cannot see how chosing not to eat animals has anything to do with chosing whether i am ready to bring a child into the world!?
we all know what happens in abortions - and we all know it is not the nicest thing on earth
but abortions are humane - IF they are done under controlled circumstances the foetus does not experience any pain!
but animals are born, raised and killed in conditions that are sickening!

they could additionally look after the harmless lives of the flora and timber they're eating, and all animal products, so no meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy, bread/grain/rice, or sugar that's from sugarcane.

I've never heard of that and it does seem very surprising.
Where did you get this statistic? Can you give a reference?
