A nice Eurypterid fossil would make a great addition to any serious rock, mineral and fossil collector. A complete fossil is a rare comeby.
New York State is a Eurypterid hothouse, in fact, it is our state fossil, here is a site that carries some very fine specimens....

Good benitoite crystals would be very acceptable. Demantoid garnet crystals (pretty groups come from Italy) or uvarovite garnet crystals from Finland. Rose quartz is a very common mineral but specimens having good crystals are rare and highly collectible. Dolomite is also a common mineral but fine crystals from Eugui in Spain are wonderful and fetch high prices. There are so many more one could go on listing them all day

I like Amethyst and Black Onyx and just love turquoise and Red Coral, actually I love them all. We travel alot and have bought from all over, I have like 8 jewelery boxes and need some more. I'm a tad bit spoiled I suppose.

Looking for a gemstone I would have to say my favorite which is the Alexandrite. It took us three months to have one located so I could have it set into a ring for my engagement ring.
Best of luck to ya.

hiddenite. it is only found in one place in the world. in hiddenite north carolina. be aware though it can be very expensive. another option is tourmaline. it is a bit easier to find, but is still very nice. a very cool piece would be watermelon tourmaline because it has red and dark green coloring.

Astriffico! very rare rock. To be honest: how sad do you have to be to collect bloody rocks? Tell the person they are sad. maybe you could buy them a new exciting hobbie like maybe stamp collecting or go wild and buy them a button.
