I was forced to get married to someone I have not seen since that terrible day. what can I do?

It depends on where the marriage was performed (or recorded). By recorded, I mean the specific County or Parish's Recorder of records. This could be a County Clerk's Office or Comptroller. Once you determine the correct location, then call the County Office and ask for the marriage division. They should have a copy of the marriage license as a permanent record. You should be able to purchase a certified copy to take to an attorney or paralegal to start divorce proceedings - if that was your intention.

If you have a divorce where both you and your spouse agree to divorce (uncontested), then the Clerk may also have some paperwork that you can file to start the dissolution of marriage.

They county you think you where at just call them and See if you are on the dock it and if so you would have to take legal actions to undo it. How can someone force you to do this. I want to know this. A shot gun wedding I thought this was only on TV. But some religion do it sorry

personally i believe the answer is in the paper work if you didnt sign the marriage license that was noterized or otherwise made official i wouldn't think you would be married

If you've never been served divorce papers you are still married.

you were FORCED to??? wow ya really need to let us know some more info on that, please. my guess would be to call down to the city hall in the city you got married in. they will be able to tell you yes or no.
