Simply out of curiosity, this question is for those already aware of this website. I wonder how many people view the doctor who runs this web site as a non-biased, informative source of information. I have my own personal view of the matter. However, I'm quite flabergasted (if that's even how you spell the word) that anyone would think he was a "neutral authority." I acknowledge he does provide some documented evidence to support some of what he says. However, he leaves huge chunks of information missing, makes interpretations regarding that partial information and mocks those who disagree with him. What are your thoughts?

Please note, I'm not asking your opinions regarding whether you "believe" in holistic health philosophy or if you instead "believe" in allopathic health philosophy, though you're welcome to include this in your answer. But what I'm really interested in is whether you consider this man objective or biased?

Stephen Barrett, M.D., the originator of Quackwatch.org, believes that the practice of medicine is a science, not an art. Many people agree with him, but especially those of limited experience with a strong background in a scientific field.

This attitude seems to prevail on his site (among others). If one believes in only an objective, rational Universe, then this attitude is perfectly rational. His "Objectivity" IS his bias.

Many humans, however, see "Alternative medicine" as more than an alternative to medicine and medical science. Medical science can not determine why everyone who smokes does not get lung cancer. Why some and not other? What is spontaneous remission? How can a chiropractor abate pain in minutes after weeks of strong "pain killer" drugs do not? How does the human mind affect health? Exactly what is the "Placebo effect"? How can Touch be therapeutic? How does prayer work?

Health is more than Medical Science. I do not expect an herb to help with a ruptured appendix. I also do not believe that taking the right drug is the answer to most health problems. Objective reality is only a part of the Universe. The Subjective realm is more than wishful thinking and fantasy. Health is a matter of balance and interfacing with the entire Universe, not just a part of it.

Biased. He seems like he has a nasty attitude. Probably too bad to have his own practice.
