Very interesting citation from Wikipedia. Apparently they have been pulled and re-badged across the globe. Daewoo Motors For specific Daewoo vehicle models, see Category:Daewoo vehicles Daewoo Motors arrived in the UK in 1995. At the time, it was the only manufacturer not using traditional dealerships; it owned and operated its own retail network. It was once considered to be near the top 10 motor companies in terms of production. Daewoo was forced to sell off its automotive arm, Daewoo Motors, to General Motors by the Kim administration. Since then, GM has been moving to rebadge Daewoo cars as the low-end models for many brands, including Chevrolet. GM was sued by Daewoo's former U.S. dealer network over this practice, since they no longer had new Daewoo cars to sell. Daewoo commercial vehicles division was sold to Tata Motors of India.

I owned a Daewoo Lanos and the car was great. I drove smooth and was good in the snow. The only problem is that less than a year after I got it the company went bankrupt so have repairs done on it was the pits. I don't know about now but in Ct I see quite a bit of them.

Daewoo is now building the New small Chevy Aveo for General Motors. They seem to be doing well with them and I would only buy a Daewoo if it were really priced low. But you should be able to get parts through Chevrolet.

I don't think so.

A friend of mine had one, and with only about 40,000 miles on it it had lots of things going wrong, the lowlight being a short pipe in the cooling system, (I think it was near the thermostat housing but I forget exactly) broke in half.

It was made of cheap plastic.

Admittedly, one lemon does not a bad brand make, but cheap Korean s--t is still cheap Korean s--t.

Not really, it's one of the lowest on the "food chain" if you will. It's not a hot car, I've seen maybe 2 in my lifetime. Seriously... You should consider something else.
