How cold is London in December? In specific, what to wear on my flight so that I can make a smooth transition from hot to cold weather and vice-versa? Any advice on what I should pack for a one week trip? What are some items I absolutely MUST bring?

Considering the fact that every Thai person I know think that 24C is freezing, I would suggest you pack at least a couple of woollen sweaters, a woollen or cashmere scarf, a hat and gloves. Better to layer .. so pack a few t-shirts, long sleeves shirts or blouses.. and long underwear if you think you are going to get cold.
You must at least pack an umbrella!

It's rainy so you should take a raincoat with you. You must also take an umbrella.
