I would say labor-management relations -- i.e., are the employers of America exploiting their employees? For example, the continuing existance of the minimum wage law and the periodic increases of it, have to do with the belief that employers have enough money to pay workers more but simply don't want to because the employers have personalities akin to Ebeneezer Scrooge. Not too long ago, there was political fighting over the issue of allowing employers to compensate for overtime by giving workers vacation time in leiu of pay.
I think labor-management relations has been the most consistent political issue ever since the Industrial Revolution and it is still one of the most important priorities to millions of American voters.
