Well, first off, I would definitely NOT simply hang out and relax. If so, your muscles will hurt even more. Work your muscles, the same ones you did in tryouts, but not as much. Keep them limber. Do some stretching before and after your exercises.

As for your calf, you maybe have pulled something, which is no big deal and it will sort of heal itself if you keep icing it. Or, it may be worse. Only a doctor can tell you that. Put ice in a baggie, and cover with a thin towel. (Never put ice directly on your skin.) Ice it for five minutes, then rest it. Ice it again 15 minutes later. Keep doing this for at least a few hours. When it starts to hurt again, start icing it again. I would try taking Ibuprofen for swelling, but keep in mind, I'm not a doctor--that's just what I would do if I were in your situation. If it doesn't feel better by Monday by icing it, then I would go to the doctor and have him take a look at it.

But, keep doing stretches and exercises. If you just sit and do nothing, the muscles will hurt even more.

Good luck. For all the pain, I hope you made the team!

Basically, you just need to take about a week off from running. In the meantime, try to stretch your calves and hamstrings at least 3 times a day (when you wake up, then in the middle of the day, then before bed). Drink plenty of water. If the pain gets too bad, then try an advil or an aspirin. Don't freak out, you'll be fine. You might also consider getting some insoles for your shoes, which will help prevent shin splints and soreness. If you're still in pain after a week off, then you should see a doctor.

Ibuprofen will ease the swelling and the soreness. You can stagger it with Tylenol and that will help with the pain. Don't do any vigorous exercise but some walking will help keep the muscles from tightening up too much over the weekend. So try that. Also, if you have a Super Walmart close by, over in the bubble bath section close to the make up, they carry a product called Therapy *for the bath*. It is green granules and it's for aches and pains. It is put out by a company called Village Naturals. Go right now and get some. Run a bath as hot as you can stand it and pour a bunch of the granules in to the hot water.
It is going to smell very strongly of eucalyptus but sit and enjoy it. After soaking in it for about 20 minutes, get out but don't dry your skin completely. It will relieve the aches and pains quit a bit and after you get out of the tub you will feel both cool and hot at the same time.

I give you this advice from me. I injured myself recently and this is what I did to feel better.

Good Luck.

You can try using the RICE metheod. Rest Ice Compression Elevation. Also try taking a pain medication. Buy a brace and where is everyday. Most important is rest. Don't use it unless you have to. If the pain continues and doesn't get any better go see a doctor immediately. Hop I helped you!

Well you need to go and use a pool. Workouts in water help allot. My son does this and after a hard practices he says this relax the strained muscles and they don't hurt him as bad. then he comes home and takes Ibuprofen and goes and take hot shower and then goes to bed with his legs elevated with a pillow. Maybe this will help you. Good Luck

Rest the next 3 days. Take ibuprofen 3 times per day, if you are not allergic. There is not much else you can do.

Muscle tears are best healed by rest...in other words, don;t push yourself. Exercise lightly on Sunday.

Advil is good for muscle aches, about 500mg per instructions.

Go to a medical shop and buy a Thailam called ''Puttur thailam'' and apply it for 3 days before you go to bed. I have also applied when it happened for me and i am fine now.
