A huge die-off caused either by a plague, or poisoned water, or starvation. The planet will turn on us and wipe us out. Then it will start all over again with bacteria and salt water.

Nukes and stupid politicians are a distinct possibility, although you really should have added petroleum crisis to your list. When the world runs out of oil, there will be a series of wars over who controls the last few drops, followed by total collapse of industries and technology that requires hydrocarbons. Riots break out at gas stations. The economy is destroyed. People starve in mass because the food is all grown in the midwest and there is no way to truck it to New York anymore. There isn't even enough petrol to power the combines to harvest it or the machines that make pesticides, so it rots in the fields while hungry rioters storm the white house. Our government hides from its people in NORAD and other survival facilities, but they run out of food down there and leave skeletons to fascinate future archaeologists. Like Egypt's pyramids.

Devastated by oil wars and famine, the developed world falls into chaos. Nuclear power plants and chemical waste silos are abandoned and start to leak. Global warming continues to devastate the planet for centuries before the carbon dioxide is reabsorbed. The radioactivity from our abandoned technology poisons our planet for millions of years.

Humans will survive, especially third world sustenance farmers well above current sea level, and technology will be rediscovered eventually. There will be no petrol and little coal to power an industrial revolution, but they could build solar panels and hydropower and advance that way. Perhaps people will be smarter this time.
