To the people who say "Go to a Dr":
At the age of 24, I had "spotting" for the first time ever last cycle, and the Nurse Practitioner told me that "this is a waste of time" when I saw her. I was under the assumption that it was implantation bleeding. Blood test proved I wasn't pregnant, but I will never see that NP again for not being concerned about something that concerned me!
If it's implantation spotting, take a HPT in 4-7 days. It takes 4 days for the embryo to implant fully and start producing HCG. Then another 2+ days for the hormone to be detected in urine.

This is definely a period and they are not normal at all to begin with.
But the periods will get normal as u get older , then u will have one every month about the same time and they will last 5-7 days.
When u do have a period , fill a empty drink bottle with hot water and put on your belly to help the crampin or u could use magnets off the fridge right under the belly button area.
Dont worry and just let periods come when they come.
Keep a calendar and write them down and thru the yrs they will get more normal.

I have been experiencing dark brown discharge too. But I think it is normal. As a matter of fact my period just came back on after 2 years and it was normal red, but, when it went off, on the last day I started see a dark brown color in my pantliners. Its only the after blood thats coming out. As long as it don't smells bad you are alright! I also have been asking around for other suggestions and they are all pretty much saying the same thing. Some are women who went to school for medical practice and they have also experienced it too. Its good to have people like that in your life, I have been learning a lot through them and this web site.
Hope this helped some. Good luck!!!

The first day of your period is counted as the first day of bright red flow, not spotting.
I've had a few cycles where I've spotted at first for a few days before AF arrived. I've also recently discovered that endo can cause this. Of course, it also isn't unusual to spot brown (or even pink) when first pregnant, but it isn't usually accompanied by cramping.
I would say AF is just giving you difficulties this cycle. You know what an old hag she can be! Good luck!
