i have a 3 stall barn but it only gets muddy in front of one stall. i'm going to put gutter up which will help, but not solve the draining problem. what can i put in the ground to help it drain better? it's dirt and pea gravel now.

french drain 4" pipe with holes and a sock over it. Trench the middle about 10"deep slopeing 1/8 to 1/2" to the foot away from the barn insert the drain. Back fill with gravel. it will drain away as fast as the water collects.

My Aunt and Uncle used saw dust and hay, which is somewhat adsorbent. You may also try a stone paver or a large flat rock buried in the low area then add dirt to level. Also consider a small trench to drain the water from the area to outside making the trench deeper as you go outside. Good Luck!

Why don't you rent a tractor and re-grade the area so the ground in front of the stalls is higher than the ground where you want the water to collect?

4" sock drain. Perferated tile from homedopot or loewes. Dig doun approx 8" backfill with pea stone. It will drain off.
