I need to know because i'm signing up for something and it doesn't have american money so it told me that it costs 5 pounds...

Google for x gbp in usd, and Google's calculator will automatically make the conversion and tell you the result. In this case 5 British pounds is equal to 9.44300 American dollars.

It is exactly $9.48974, so about $9.49. That's using the most recent exchange rate, so it should be pretty accurate.
