Why is it when a few Black people do something or say something crazy that people conclude that all Black people are that way. One day I was on the train and this man got on the train who was obviously out of his mind and I overheard this guy say that's how Black people always act in public. Why can't other people just look at us as humans just like them but with a different skin tone and possibly a different culture.

People on this thread who are attacking blacks are morons. What about the guy who said the average IQ is 85. Do you really believe that? Damn, this world is in trouble. I think THEY have an axe to grind. To comment on the thread everybody generalizes everybody and we all each hate to be generalized. There are some racists on this thread who in thier jerkiness will contribute to blacks thinking that all whites are racist. Why, because you have people on this very thread proving it to be true. To be fair, there are many whites who are cool and are easy to get along with. Its a humanity thing. Yes, more blacks are poor than whites by percentage. Yes, more whites are flaming child molestors than blacks. Yes blacks are generally less educated not because of lack of ability but lack of interest (WHY?) To avoid participating in a society that will never accept them. Yes more whites worship Satan and are more likely to maim themselves or drink bleach. You can go back and forth all day with making point to support the superiority of any group. We are just people with tremendous gifts and calamitous character faults. No one can clam to have a clean heart and a clear consciense. Some poor blacks and hispanics may steal retail goods and petty personal property but whites and Asians are much more likely to cheat on thier taxes and take abusive tax shelters that would be illegal if they have enough auditors to check returns which is stealing no matter how you look at it. Most of the stereotypes I believe are 50% true maybe with some exceptions. If you don't like me because of who I might be. Fine. You wouldn't have liked me anyway, go drink some bleach.

Take Black Braziallians, Black Mexicans, the Black French or even Black Cubans. They have 100% integrated into thier communities and are not "black" but 100% Cuban. 100% Brazillian and 100% Mexican and are STILL spit on in thier communities and they are at the same socio-economic status as those doing the spitting. They are still locked out of the more lucrative jobs when they have the expierence, preperation and education Its not blacks being seperate that is causing the problem. It is a defense and coping mechanism. Black Canadians aren't fully accepted though they are fully integrated. We need to stop making excues for racists who "just need time to adapt" or "just are who they are" but they complain all day about blacks who don't want to change, adapt, conform or try to blend in a society that does not want to blend with them. I think that all people (black and white) who make racist comments need to be caned in public, all bigots who make decisions on the color of someone skin need to be imprisoned for life and all dummies who waste thier life on the street corner should be banished from the USA. That would be fair to everybody. No racists. No thugs. No Bigots. No time wasters. If I were president I would write it into law. All hate groups would be tracked down by the NSA and annhilated. All Nazi organizations would be hung at the Lincoln Memorial. All blacks who are negative and un-productive would be put in the same jail cells on the island of "who-gives-a-damn" with the bigots and they can have jail-fun with each other. Nobody would sign on for that but thats what I would like to do.

It's not just black people that are looked at as a general group.
As a white person I'm automatically a racist or a bigot. Just because a few people are like that doesn't mean all of us are.
The same goes with Asians, they're smarter than everyone else when it comes to math, and oh yeah, they know Kung Fu.
And don't forget, all Muslims or middle eastern people are automatically terrorists!
The world's full of really stupid people who generalize everyone else, or have pre-conceived notions about other groups.

It's an unfortunate reality and I'm sorry about your bad experience on the train. Not everyone thinks this way.

Because through history we have always been on the bottom of the totem pole. During slavery we worked right next to our men. Black women were beaten and raped and birthed 1/2 white children. Black women raised the children of their slave owners. Especially during WWII when most women were able to take on jobs most men weren't doing because they were fighting in the war. Before this, women were not able to have these jobs due to what is known as "The Glass Ceiling" which keeps women and minorities from advancing in the work place. Black men were able to fight in the war along with white men and were paid equally. White women dominated this new lifestyle for women. Black women had two strikes being black and a woman. However, they made a way of survival taking on jobs such as cleaning and the few who were given a regular job excelled. People take the history of the black woman's life in America and see how much she has progressed today and are amazed. No one else in history has shown the strength of the black woman.

Everyone generalizes, and I don't think there is any horrible crime in that. Why aren't whites who live in trailer parks looked at as individuals?

Perceptions are in large part based on some underlying reality. Just because they made a comment you consider offensive on a train doesn't necessarily mean that they believe all black people are like that.

Also you mentioned a different culture. Studies are coming back and they're finding that multi-cultural societies really don't work so well, especially in the long term. There is going to be racial tension in America so long as different cultures are allowed to coexist.

u picked a very touchy question to have answered. Everyone has a view or opinion about blacks or race. Everyone at some point in time is offended by something someone said or did to humiliate that particular race. As a individual you have to look beyond that. No one knows everything about another culture. We guess and assume from what is heard( which as you know can be distorted from one person to another) that's just the way people act. If you know your not like anything that people are saying; just ignore it and walk away. Do they know you personally? and really...................................... who cares. It's all preconcieved ideas.

Sadly people stereotype everyone. How do asians feel? people just assume their penises are super small. And us black people. The guys are assumed to have huge penises. How dissapointed will a girl when we are just average? That puts a lot of pressure on us. Racist or stereotypical people will never go away. We just have to stand up or ignore it.

i think all people are same, except their skin color and inner cuture.
There are bad people, some are white, some are black, some are neither white nor black.
So don't think too much of it. Maybe sometimes somewhere we judge somebody by their skin. but we must see to it that that's not fair and just!!

That's just the human family, girl! I find myself saying stuff like that about white people....LOL. We're just prone to doing it, especially if we grew up in a family that was outspoken about other races...we just irk each other, even though we're all family!

because people generalize with labels to much, Black rights, for example, or Black history month, african americans, when the labels come off people will stop stereotyping as much.
