i own a repair shop, and there's a simple answer to this ,just change the engines out in it,,all the hook ups are identical and will bolt up exactly the same way the 305 did,you don't have to change nothing but the engines, and the intakes are the same also,so its one of the easiest changes you can do,,Chevy keeps everything the same ,and this makes them one of the easiest vehicles on earth to swap out,,good luck i hope this help,s,,and have a good thanksgiving.

I had a 89 RS Camaro w/ a 305. It went through the same thing .What it came down to after getting advice from every gear-head out there is to swap the 305 with a 350. You don't really need the four bolt main, however if your going to build it with lots of horses say over 450 hp then I would get the 4 bolt main. The tune-port injection is awesome hang on to it. Lots of guys like me are tying to find them, they're very expensive. The 305 was made for economy not raw hp. I know a guy that put alot of money on a 305 and it really wasn't that impressive. He could have spent less with the 350 and got way more power. I'm a Ford man, but there ain't nothing better than a built 350. 350's are cheaper and easier to work on than any engine I've saw!

Hey there you don't want to try and modifie your 305 for one the piston walls are to thin to bore go and get your self a 350 chevy 4 bolt main and you can beef up that 350 easy to push out 450 HP to close to 500 HP and the 350 will bolt right up to your 5 speed tranny good luck man hope this info helps you out and if you put vortec heads on it you will be gaining even more HP...or if you want to spend the money look for a corvette 350 with the crossfire injection that will bolt up to your tranny too

you will could desire to alter out the finished drivetrain practically. yet, small block v8's have consistently been an option in camaros, and that 350 is a small block. you will probable choose for various motor mounts. and the exhuast will choose for replaced. and a tranny that cna handle the ability (4l60e could the superb selection, th700r4 with a 4th velocity overdrive could get you respectable mileage, and the th350 could be bulletproof while geared up precise to verify a properly geared up 350 motor). or perhaps better a stick shift, vettes are stable vehicles to get difficult 6 speeds from. and the winning driveshaft is only too long. you additionally can choose for a substitute in teh gears of your axle or to step as much as a 12 bolt in case you only have a 10. ford's 9" is particularly better then any chevy rear axle, yet evade's dana 60 from back interior the days is even better then the ford 9".
