They won't stop and at first I thought it was the real thing (labor). Are there anyways to stop them? I'm 13 putting me at a higher risk for a early baby and I'm only 32 weeks. I timed them like someone said on my other board and called the doctor. Only Braxton Hicks contractions. I talked to my mom and there is no need to worry What's happening?!?

There is no way to stop Braxton Hicks. Your body needs to prepare for labor (more then most because of your age) Braxton Hicks should not be painful or regular. If they are- it's actual contractions. If you have actual contractions and they feel you are too early THEN there are drugs and you can go on bed rest to delay it (although your body may just go anyway)

I am high risk also, went into labor at 24 weeks- I have Braxton-hicks pretty frequently and this is what OB told me. As long as they are not painful and do not become regular to a point where you can time them, there isn't reason to worry. I found that if I do not drink enough fluid and am on my feet too long, I get them more often. Warm baths helped, so did laying down. That is not something I would keep from the doc though, seeing that you are only 13 and at risk to deliver early. Just keep him up to date. And invest in some B/C after the delivery... you don't need to squirt out any more babies any time soon.

I used to have braxton hicks contractions all the time, and the only thing that used to sooth it somewhat is putting something warm on it, or taking a warm shower.

--The doctor told you they were braxton hicks contractions that you were having? Did they look at you, or just tell you over the phone based on your symptoms? I know they say that to be real labor, the contractions need to be regular, and gradually get closer together and last longer each time, but when I was pregnant with my first child, my labor was ALL OVER THE PLACE. The contractions were unevenly spaced, and had varying lengths. They just kept getting stronger and stronger, until (22 hours later) I was in excruciating pain and my husband took me to the hospital. Even then, they were saying that they thought it was false labor, and were talking about sending me home. Luckily for me, at that point my water suddenly broke, and then they HAD to keep me. I was in labor for a total of 48 1/2 hours, and then they wound up doing an emergency c-section anyway.

Anyway...my point is, (after all that babble) just keep an eye on the contractions you're feeling. If they keep getting stronger, even if they're not necessarily evenly spaced, call the doctor back again and let him/her know you're getting a little concerned.
Good luck to you. I hope it is only braxton hicks right now. I hope your precious little baby is healthy.

No you can't stop them. Mine started at 24 weeks and kept going right to the end. Just make sure you are keeping well hydrated and going to your doctor's appointments. Since you are so young, you should be seeing a doctor that specializes in high risk pregnancy anyway.

they are practice contractions. This is getting your body ready for the real thing. I would suggest it they are very bothersome, then when you get them, just stand up and walk a little. If this does not help then there is nothing you can do. But for me, if I stand up and walk around for like 30 seconds they quite for a bit. good luck.

If you were active when they started, try resting. If you were resting when they started, go for a walk. That usually will stop them. Don't worry- when it's the real thing, you'll KNOW. You are so young. I will be praying for you and your baby and your mom.

While you'll probably continue to have them off and on, drink some water and try walking around or changing positions. Staying hydrated will help lessen them.
