Since he is smoking four packs a day, the least of your worries is his overeating. after pall malls, lights won't get it. tried that once and i never smoked more than two packs a day even at 10 cents a pack [navy exchange]. best thing to do is try to cut back and keep lots of healthy snacks around. I know better than to tell you both to quit or you will die young. but i just did. switch to chewing tobacco, it won't kill you near as fast. unfortunately thats what i did and do not feel the urge to snack all the time.

First of all, smoking is really bad for your health. I used to smoke 4 packs every day for at least 10 years. I developed bronchidis. But that aside, the only reason people might gain weight from not smoking is because they use food to take the place of the cigs. That will definately make you over weight, but it doesn't have to be that way. If he's gaining weight while he is still smoking, then either he is eating more than he used to or it's a medical problem. Maybe his thyroid is out of whack. That's what happened to me. And the last thing is that he will probably not be able to quit if you're still going to smoke around him. And if he's supposed to do this for his health, then you should also try to quit. It's either that or nothing changes!

Cutting back on cigarettes would definitely help his ability to be mobile and as a result lose weight. Quitting all together would be the best way to go, however, going cold turkey could possibly do more harm than good for a person that can smoke a carton in a day. Take it slow, get some counseling and try your hardest to make a goal and stick to it. Both of you have to do this in order for it to work. Once he sees that you are serious, maybe then he will become serious too. It sounds like you have to be the stronger person here. Good luck.

first of all, light and ultra light cigarettes are not healthy, and if you want him to be healthy get him out to exercise more, both of you should, if he is smoking that much a day, his weight wouldn't be my first concern, his lungs would be. If you are that worried about how he looks, maybe you and him should get some couples counsel ling, and not to be rude, the next time he reaches for a smoke or food, try getting him to chew on a straw or something like it, it will take care of the oral fixation he obviously has, and for the nicotine withdrawal, try gum.

Both of you need to stop smoking completely because fat isn't the only deadly issue here. The two of you need to seek professional help and really do whatever it takes to become a healthy couple before you find yourselves in a hospital, or worse, very soon.

What is in your cigs? Obesity is the farthest thing you need to worry about. At the rate you two are smoking, he and you will be dead long before fat starts to accumulate in places you would rather it not.

Tell his doctor to help you to get your husband to smoke healthy cigarettes. Don't become offended if the doctor busts up laughing.
