It varies greatly from woman to woman, there is really no way of knowing, it could be tomorrow or it could be a week like your doctor said. I think I remember hearing of women going for two weeks even being dilated.

I was dialated 2cm for 6-8 weeks, the first couple centimeters don't really mean anything. I still was over a week late.

After u dialate to stage 5 which is 5 fingers....u are ready, u will possible see blood first which u havent seen in 9 months.
Start breathin deep breathes thru nose, stomach out mouth
Your stomach will hump up on u during labor pains, that is when u really need to breathe slow deep breathes to ease the pains.

Every woman is different. When my sister was pregnant, she went to the dr. and he told her she was 2cm dialated, and it would be about another week or so before the baby would come. Well the next morning she had the baby!

that's a load of crap. Many women walk around dilated for weeks before going into labor and there is no way your doctor can predict that. I was 3 cm dilated at 38 weeks and my daughter was born at 41 weeks, 2 days. I know someone who was 2 cm dilated for 2 weeks before her baby came. Your baby is not even full term yet--be patient. There is no average time length--every pregnancy is different. Some women don't dilate at all until the onset of labor.

At 33 weeks i became 50% effaced and a million cm dilated, at 37 weeks i became ninety% effaced and 3 cm dilated. i became led to at 39 weeks (I even have low platlet stages and should no longer pass previous 39 weeks by using larger threat of blood loss) i became 4 cm and ninety% effaced while the well being care expert broke my water.

You could be dialated for weeks before actually giving birth, I'm sorry your doctor got your hopes up.

There is no average time in delivery. It has to do with your muscle tone and how it is able to relax and allow dilation. The weaker the muscle the faster the dilation. The stronger the muscle the longer it takes for dilation to occur.

there is absolutely no average or set time except if you are induced then it will happen more quickly - otherwise it could be anything from a couple of hours to 20+ hours but don't worry you will be given pain relief and labour is not intense for all that time only the last few hours or even less
