1 week ago I used semi-permanent jet black hair color. I am in my first trimester. Should I be seriously concerned? I didn't know I wasn't suppose to use it.

I would tell the doctor just to be on the safe side. Most doctors say that hair dye after the first trimester should be safe, but a lot also recommend not dyeing at all while pregnant.

Dont be concerned at all...I did the same thing....I did dye my hair in my late second trimester and I have a very happy healthy one year old....you'll be fine...but I do believe you should only use semi permanent or rinses...b/c of the peroxide in the permanent stuff....Good Luck!

You should be ok....most of t he products now days are safer than they were before. I also used hair color in my first trimester because I didn't know either. After that I waited until I was well into my second trimester.... My son turned out healthy and happy..... Don't worry.

I colored my hair with permanent hair color thru my whole pregnancy. I also did hair and nails full-time thru my whole pregnancy. I didnt have a problem at all. Ask your dr. and see what they say. Hairstylists will tell you not to color your hair in your first trimester, because sometimes the color wont take or turn out right because of hormones.

my step mother is a hair stylist worked with hair dyes her whole pregnancy wore gloves of course but never colored her own hair she said there is a safe way to dye your hair I believe it is with vegetable dye she is not here right now for me to ask but i do know you can ask at the pharmacy. Always remember whatever you use on your skin will soak in and can be harmful. but don't worry you have done it now and most women don't know and there baby's are healthy.

There is nothing unsafe about over the counter hair color.. this has been pretty much a rumor since haircolor WAS dangerous in the 50's and 60's. Do you honestly think they could put out haircolor without a warning on the box against pregnant women using their product?

Let your doctor know about it - that is the only way to get the correct answer to your question. I don't think you should do it again.

You should only use a vegetable based dye like Henna but dying just once should'nt hurt your pregnancy.

Your baby will be fine. I got my hair highlighted before I had both of my babies. My doctor was fine with it. I did ask him before I had it done. Congratulations!
