The target idle is slightly higher than the computer thinks is necessary to maintain smooth idle. I preform the idle air relearn procedure first. Then replace the electronic throttle control chamber. Some time there is carbon and dirt build up around the throttle butterfly causing the throttle not to fully close. You might clean the throttle chamber then relearn the idle and see if that fixes it.

Hi, I am an auto technician. This car needs to be diagnosed properly. Going off the information you gave me, it would be a guess. Some things that could cause it are a bad idle control valve (may be called a solenoid or motor also), an out of range throttle position sensor, a vacuum leak, a carboned up intake, an egr valve stuck open, a purge solenoid not closing, or anything along these lines. Some vehicles use an electric motor on the throttle housing to open and close the throttle plate (instead of a throttle cable), so there could be an issue with that also. Like I said, a diagnosis in necessary. Your best bet is to look around for a reputable repair shop that specializes in drive-ability and diagnostic services. The dealer is not always where you'll find this. Keep in mind, too, that an auto parts store can sometimes read the codes, but it is NOT a diagnosis! Good luck.

What you will need to do is take the car to a certified mechanic that has the diagonstic equipment to rescan and do a complete diagonsis of the ECM components. There is something that is causing the ECM to produce this code, it just hasnt been found yet. It is really hard to say what it is and no one will be able to give you a definite answer on what it is until a complete diagonsis is done. Dissconnecting the battery for a few minutes and reconnecting it will not clear the codes.

i own a repair hop,and in most cases this is caused by the idle air control valve on it ,causing it to idle high ,and on some occasions the 0-2 sensor causes this to appear also. i have had to replace both of them to get it to clear up,but you ,can take it by any auto zone store ,and let them scan it for free, and see what their scanner shows up,like i said its free-no cost to you,and this might help identify it for you,i now how you feel about putting things on that don't help it,,it can get expensive after a while,,good luck,,i hope this help,s.and have a happy thanksgiving.
