Because they're taught to be ignorant and mis-informed, and think that if they're convinced of something, it must be right. This is partly so that they can win arguments by shouting the loudest, and not accepting anyone else's arguments. So if their government can get them to not listen to anyone else, they can keep them convinced of the crock they've been feeding them since birth, and keep them more easily controlled and accepting of what the American Establishment tells them (even if it's blatently untrue). Loud and with conviction means "right" to them

Over the centuries, England and all of the United Kingdom has been invaded on a regular basis- Romans, Vikings, William the Conqueror and all his troops etc. Instead Americans are a nation of invaders- they stormed into a land and took it over. That's why they think they're invincible where as us Brits are pretty good at seeing the negative in most things.
Plus it rains a bit too much.

It might be weather-related, as one person suggested. Sunlight tends to make people feel happier. Also, perhaps Americans just have a different sense of what's culturally expected of them, and put on a smile even when they're not feeling happy. Or maybe it's something else entirely.

We have better dental care in the U.S. and we just like to show off our pretty smiles. :) ... No, we are just as screwed up as you are, we just let things off our chests and you hold emotions in. Beat up a poor country, it really gets out the aggression.

Because we (especially girls raised in the South) have been raised to have low expectations, this way when we get disappointed its not too bad:)!!

because they think they are an island how sad half of them cant even read never mind look at a map look east look west they don't have a north or a south ..was watching switched and one contestant hadn't even heard of Canada ...tells it all
