Did I hear correct? Did he say that the lesson he learned is that "people want instant success in the world"? that "we will win in Iraq if we don't quit"?

Is that the lesson of the Vietnam war?

And isn't his comment a slap in the face of the Vietnamese people who are doing just fine?

I heard it too. The Vietnamese must have taken that as an insult.
Bush avoided going to Vietnam when that war was going on, he has no idea of any lessons learned from Vietnam. How could he, he wasn't there.
Bush wanted instant success, that's why he pushed to invade Iraq on false pretenses. He also knows that his days are numbered once the war in Iraq ends, and war crimes investigations begin.

That we Use War only as a Last Resort, and the war doesn't last forever they'll will be a Time all Our Troops will be back from Iraq like Vietnam, the only Difference is we don't have to raise hell in Iraq like we did in Vietnam and it was all because of the Draft.

Imagine If we Reinstate the Draft, Everybody regardless of Age, Race, Gender, Faith, Socio-Economic Background would have to Fight this war whether like it or not where do you draw the line on who should be in the Military or Fighting the Iraq and Afghan War.

Yes, he said he learned we need to be Patient. Many innocent Vietnamese that were our friends, were murdered because we pulled out instead of helping the South win. As an American Patriot, I feel that Communism is our enemy and oppresses good people. All you Bush haters are so quick to call Southern Conservatives rednecks and uneducated. But I guess when the time comes we will be the ones with the courage to protect your freedom, cause you will be busy thinking you are getting what you deserve.

Yes he did. And he isn't allowing the politicians to run the war.

If the military had been running the Viet Nam war, it would not have
lasted 13 years.

I think he was saying that the lesson FOR US is to be patient, not expect instant results although many people demand instant results.
